Every year, LinkedIn publishes its list of the overused buzzwords it finds on resumes and profiles on its site. This list comes in handy when you're making your own resume because it offers a bunch of words you should avoid when you're writing yours.
The top ten this year is filled with a bunch of buzzwords that don't mean much on their own:
- Creative
- Organizational
- Effective
- Motivated
- Extensive Experience
- Track Record
- Innovative
- Responsible
- Analytical
- Problem Solving
Instead of using these phrases, LinkedIn recommends you clear your profile of all these buzzwords. You want to replace them with meaningful, detailed examples. So, instead of saying you're creative, give an example of your creativity or describe a situation where you came up with a creative solution. We've talked about phrases to avoid before, but it's always good to see what's being overused each year so you can update your resume accordingly.
